About Me

My name is Celina Bermudez Vogensen (they/them > pronoun indifferent) and I am a multidisciplinary artist.

I was born in Nicaragua, grew up in Portugal and have US Citizenship. My family is also Brazilian, Nicaraguan and Cuban. Therefore, I have a multiethnic, multicultural, multilingual (Portuguese, Spanish, English) and multiracial background. My background has a big influence in my artistic practice, which is why I work a lot with topics regarding migration, nationality, territory, environment, layers and identity. When it comes to my artistic practice I tend to explore and experiment a lot with different types of materiality and visual expressions.

I am and have been involved in several projects, collaborations and exhibitions (view CV for more information). I am very passionate about different intersections of art - Fine Arts, Scientific Illustration, Cinema, Music, Artivism, Design - and creating and assisting communities where culture and art can thrive.

I've also exhibited, organised and participated in events in various cities (mainly in Portugal and in the Netherlands). I am always very excited to participate and be involved in projects. Do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to collaborate with me or are interested in my art! You can reach me out through my email celinavogensenwork@gmail.com, my instagram @celinda.art.attack and/or through my contact form.

Education

2021-2023

Scientific Illustration
Universidade de Aveiro

I am currently doing a Scientific Illustration specialisation course.

It is a theoretical and practical course which mainly combines Biology and Illustration. The course approaches the main groups of plants, fungi and animals (invertebrates and vertebrates), archaeological and paleontological illustration. We are also taught a wide range of techniques: graphite, Chinese ink, scratchboard, carbon dust, watercolors, acrylics, alkyd paints, gouaches, airbrushing, digital vector, digital raster (2D; Photoshop), 3D (ZBrush) and animation (AfterEffects).

2016-2020

Fine Arts
Academie Minerva

Hanzehogeschool

I did my BA in Fine Arts (Autonome Beldeende Kunst) Minerva Academy is located in Groningen, Netherlands. The Bachelors was in English and the environment was international. Throughout my studies we had a lot of technical workshops, lectures, round-table discussions, excursions, visits and organisations of exhibitions. This course allowed me to explore and experiment with the sort of artist I wanted to become, which was an incredibly fruitful experience.

I also graduated as an Honours student and was a Nominee for the Minerva Award for Fine Art 2021.

2019

Facultad de Bellas Artes
Universidad Complutense de Madrid

I did my Erasmus exchange in Madrid at the Facultad de Bellas Artes. The educational system was more traditional and technical in Madrid as opposed to the one in Groningen. Therefore, I focused more in developing more sculptural - sculpting in stone - and drawing skills - life drawing and mural painting.

Madrid was also an incredible city for artistic inspiration, not only for more renown art museums (Prado and Reina Sofía) but also for smaller galleries and project spaces.

2014-2016

Arte e Multimédia
Faculdade de Belas Artes

Universidade de Lisboa

I started my Bachelors studies in Multimedia Arts in Lisbon. I had a lot of theoretical classes (PT - Cultura Visual, História de Arte, Teoria da Imagem, Teoria da Forma Visual, etc) and other courses such as Analog Photography, Life Drawing, Traditional Animation, Audiovisual, and Concept Art.

This is my art CV/Resume. Feel free to follow my linked.in profile and/or follow me on instagram to keep up to date with what I am doing.

You can also see some projects and events that I have been involved in if you scroll down this page.
